Auto News Ferdinand | April 22, 2021 02:50 pm The smell of burning rubber, the sound of screeching tyres, the skill and precision of 15 participants. Welcome to Precision Ctrl_! A gymkhana event that is the first of many courtesy of Bimmers Restoration & Parts and Imola Automotive. When CarTell by Carlist.my was contacted and asked to be the official media partner for Precision Ctrl_, I jumped at the opportunity. As mentioned before, we want to play a more active role in supporting local motorsports events, and so on hot Saturday morning (10/4/2021), we descended to Shah Alam Stadium. As its name suggests, Precision Ctrl_ is all about precision and skill in navigating a course that was designed by Akib Nadeem and Muiz Zakwan. The course was technical and challenging with tight hairpin turns and a slalom. The winning time was just over 30 seconds. It was short which meant that every misstep would incur you seconds wasted. The top three of the day was separated by less than two seconds. I had the privilege of piloting the BMW M340i on the gymkhana track but only managed a paltry 36 seconds. That was all me, not the car. The car itself is a beast. Review coming up soon. All in all 15 cars took part, many BMW's but there was a Starlet and a BRZ in the mix too! Bayerische Motoren Werke was well represented with quite a few E36's, a bas kilang blue E46 Ci, not forgetting the E36 cabrio (hands-down win for style points), an E39 was seen taking the tight turns with aplomb, a couple of F30's and the most expensive car on the track that day was an E92 M3 (original okay, not upbadged). Prizes were sponsored by Imola Automotive, Bimmers Restoration & Parts and Torqu3 Lubricant Malaysia. The winners and their respective times for the day are as below: 1st - Hanif F30 330e - 30.1 2nd - Vick E36 (running an S52B32) - 30.8 3rd - Ariff F30 320d - 31.6 Bila next one? Aaah one is being planned for after Hari Raya so stay tuned, we'll keep you posted. The Precision Ctrl_ gymkhana event was held observing the strictest of SOPs, all attendees had to check in via MySejahtera and a maximum number of 25 attendees was observed at all times within the event area as stipulated.
