The problem of people parking wherever they like is a common issue in many communities. While it might not seem like it would create any harm at first, it's actually hazardous for other road users, which may end badly for all parties. This is why 'Jabatan Siasatan Dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik PDRM', through their Facebook page, is reminding motorists to park correctly or face the consequences. They said vehicle users must park their vehicles in the parking lots provided to avoid congestion inconveniences to other road users, explained the Facebook posting. They also extended this warning to those who love to 'cop' parking spaces as they too are the cause of many problems. "Vehicle users must park their vehicles in the parking lot provided. This is to avoid congestion for other road users. Parking spaces are also not to be obstructed, as some like to 'cop' parking spaces by placing umbrellas, stalls and cones in the parking lots." Any individuals who fail to comply with parking regulations may be prosecuted under the Road Traffic Rules 1959 or the Road Transport (Allocation of Parking) Order according to the jurisdiction of the relevant Local Authority. They also advised the public to avoid being irresponsible and selfish. "Remember our actions. We should be more attentive and considerate to others." If this reminder and warning is not enough to sway you from carrying out selfish acts, remember that the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) has issued a warning that the punishment for 'cop' offenders is set under Section 119, which carries a penalty of no more than RM2,000 or imprisonment of no more than six months for the first offence and a fine of up to RM4,000 or imprisonment of no more than 12 months for subsequent offences. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
