New York 2018: All-New Toyota Corolla Interior Revealed
Auto NewsAlthough Toyota did reveal the all-new Toyota Corolla hatchback/Auris at the recent Geneva Motor Show, the car at the stand was fitted with blacked-out glass and no interior images were shared.
The 2016 Auris and ASEAN Corolla Altis share the same instrument panel, thus, while the exterior of the all-new USA/European hatchback does not have any importance to us here in the ASEAN, the interior is of big interest.
Toyota USA will be launching the all-new Corolla hatchback at next week’s New York International Auto Show. More information of the all-new Toyota Auris built on TNGA C-platform can be found in our brief report here.
The design of the all-new Corolla hatchback’s instrument panel does not stray away from the traditional Toyota design. At the centre of the dashboard is a free-standing high-resolution 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay connectivity. XSE variant (the top of the range) can be fitted with a JBL Clari-Fi premium audio system with 8 speakers and an 800 Watt amplifier.
XSE variant also comes standard with a 7-inch TFT multi-information display in the meter binnacle, placed between the physical engine tachometer, fuel, and temperature gauges.
Other notable features in the interior include electric parking brake with hold function, sports-type front seats, and the lack of rear air-conditioning vents.
The all-new Toyota Corolla hatchback will be equipped with the all-new Dynamic Force Engine 2.0-litre with two transmission choices, a six-speed intelligent manual transmission with rev-matching control or a 10-speed Dynamic-Shift CVT.
Much attention was paid to the dynamic handling of the all-new Corolla. Suspension geometry, damper settings, and even the suspension arm placements have all been optimized to provide an uncanny blend of balance, composure, and drive that is engaging.
Standard safety features in the all-new Corolla hatchback include Toyota’s suite of advanced driving assistance system which consists of Pre-Collision System, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist and Lane Tracing Assist which keeps the vehicle in the intended lane.
Toyota USA will begin sales of the all-new Corolla hatchback in summer. Closer to home, the ASEAN Toyota Corolla Altis only went through a styling refresh recently, thus we do not expect the all-new model to arrive until 2019.
