New Volkswagen Passat Facelift and New Arteon Coming Soon

During a recent roundtable meeting with Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) management, it was revealed that the new Passat facelift and new Arteon will be introduced here within the second half of 2019.

First introduced at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Volkswagen Arteon was later previewed at the 2018 Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE). That particular unit was powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that does 280 PS and 350 Nm, sent to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Essentially a fastback version of the Passat, the Arteon is positioned as the flagship model in Volkswagen’s line-up. Further separating the Arteon apart from the Passat are the frameless doors. As for the interior, the Arteon is similar to the Passat.

Apart from the Arteon, VPCM also mentioned that the facelifted Passat will be arriving later this year.

The facelifted B8-generation Passat was introduced at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March, where the updated model was the first Volkswagen to receive Travel Assist – a system that enables partial automated driving at speeds between 0 to 210 km/h.

In addition to the Travel Assist, the Passat facelift also receives the new third generation Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB).

Technology aside, the new Passat facelift also receives some visual updates, including a new front and rear fascia plus new wheel design.
