New MINI Cooper Countryman And Clubman John Cooper Works Launched In Malaysia – 306 hp, RM359k And RM379k

MINI Malaysia today introduced the new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman and the new John Cooper Works Clubman, with prices as mentioned below:

• MINI John Cooper Works Clubman: RM358,888.00
• MINI John Cooper Works Countryman: RM 378,888.00

Powered by a new and more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which produces 306 hp and 450 Nm of maximum torque, both models are able to hit a top speed of 250 km/h. Paired to the engine is an 8-speed Steptronic Sports Automatic Transmission.

While the John Cooper Works Clubman is able to do the century sprint in 4.9 seconds, the John Cooper Works Countryman does it slightly slower in 5.1 seconds.

Compared to the outgoing JCW Cooper Clubman which made 231 hp and 350 Nm and did the century sprint in 6.3 seconds, the cars we’re looking at here make about 70 hp and 100 Nm more.

Engine aside, both the new JCW Clubman and Countryman come with new sport brakes, tweaked cooling system, and sport exhaust systems to keep the 306 hp in check. They are also equipped with the ALL4 all-wheel drive as standard.

Damping is handled by JCW sport suspension that is 10 mm lower than standard, but the JCW Countryman is specially equipped with Adaptive Suspension.

On the exterior, the JCW Countryman features a new bumper trim panel with open air intakes on both sides, as well as bigger tailpipes of 85 mm in diameter.  

The JCW Clubman on the other hand, comes with a completely redesigned appearance from its predecessor, featuring a new honeycomb front grille, a new front bumper, 95 mm exhausts, a front spoiler with a larger splitter and a new insert in the lower grille, a new bumper trim panel, and two external coolant radiators.

Both models come with LED headlights and taillights with LED DRLs, but only the JCW Clubman gets the Union Jack design and Matrix Light Functionality, which is a first for MINI.

The new headlights also feature the Piano Black exterior that provides a glossy black surrounding, while new cornering lights are equipped as standard.

Additionally, both the new MINI JCW Countryman and Clubman are fitted with 19-inch JCW Circuit Spoke Two-Tone wheels, redesigned with edgier racing-inspired looks.

Inside, the JCW variants feature sporty racing seat upholstered in Carbon Black Dinamica Leather, JCW leather steering wheel, JCW instrument cluster, JCW centre display trim, JCW start screen, and also JCW door sills.

They also feature stainless-steel pedals, on top of the MINI Yours Interior Cockpit Surface in Piano Black that illuminates at night in 12 different colours. Also offered as standard is the panoramic sunroof.

In terms of infotainment, the JCW Countryman and Clubman feature the high contrast Head-Up Display, an 8.8-inch Touch Screen Navigation System with a split-screen function, the MINI Connected system, as well as a 360-watt Harman Kardon Sound System.

Other standard features in both models include Electric Tailgate with Easy Opener, Comfort Access, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, MINI Find Mate with Bluetooth tags, MINI Yours Logo Projection, and a new, in-vehicle 4G SIM card. Safety features include Park Assist, Park Distance Control, and a rear-view camera.
