New 2017 Honda Jazz Facelift Makes Global Debut In Malaysia
Auto NewsHonda Malaysia has pulled the covers off the new Jazz, available in both petrol and hybrid form. Interestingly Malaysia is the first country in the world to receive the new Honda Jazz, as the model will be making its debut in Japan next month.
The new Honda Jazz facelift is expected to arrive in Q2 2017, with the Sport Hybrid variant arriving a little later in Q3 2017. Malaysia is also the only market outside of Japan to receive the new Honda Jazz Sport Hybrid i-DCD.
In terms of powertrain, the new Honda Jazz Hybrid receives a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine paired to seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated high power motor. The Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) features high capacity Lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries integrated under the boot floor area, without sacrificing seat versatility. Coupled with the electric motor, the Jazz Hybrid is able to output 137 PS, comparable to a naturally-aspirated 1.8-litre engine. Honda also added that the electric power steering has been retuned.
As for the petrol variant, the identical 1.5-litre SOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine is retained, mated to an Earth Dreams Technology CVT-type automatic.
Visually, the updated Honda Jazz receives a new chrome front grille, new front and rear bumpers, LED daytime running lights and dual-tone alloy wheels with a new design. Honda further included keyless entry with push start button for all variants of the new Jazz.
