Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Announces Field Fix For ASX, Lancer, Outlander, Pajero Exceed Models

Auto News

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, has requested for owners of imported Mitsubishi Lancer and Outlander, and the locally-assembled ASX models to replace the engine control relay of their vehicles. Overall affected cars are about 5,000 units.

Vehicles

Period of Manufacture

ASX (CKD)

March 2015 – November 2016

Lancer (CBU)

December 2014 – February 2016

Outlander (CBU)

December 2015 – June 2016

The relay protects the engine’s ECU from any sudden surge of voltage. If it is not replaced, the internal parts of the relay may fail and subsequently affect the engine’s ECU function.

Separately, MMM will also be conducting a Field Fix Campaign to replace the passenger side airbag inflator for 115 units of Pajero Exceed manufactured from March 2010 – July 2012.

Some of the passenger side airbags may release metal fragments when deployed causing injuries to the occupants. This exercise is part of the Takata airbag recall campaign worldwide.

“Safety is our utmost priority thus MMM is taking this initiative to assure customer’s safety and regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

MMM will issue notification letters to all affected Mitsubishi owners and request all affected customers to make an appointment at any of the Mitsubishi Motors authorized service centres for the replacement of the above. The full cost of the replacement will be borne by the company.

For the list of service centres and further information, visit here or contact MMM Customer Careline at 1800 18 8161 (9 am – 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays excluding public holidays).
