Mercedes-Benz's New Inline-Six Engine Makes Malaysian Debut In AMG CLS 53
Auto NewsMercedes-Benz first announced its plans to re-introduce its line of inline-six engine back in late-2016 across. Fast forward to 2018 and the company has introduced the first of the inline-six-powered models here, the CLS 53.
The Stuttgart-based firm introduced the CLS 53 at the 2018 North American International Auto Show. This new model gets its power from an all-new 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine, good for 435 hp and 520 Nm. The engine is paired to an EQ Boost integrated starter/generator, part of the car’s 48V mild hybrid system. The EQ Boost integrated starter/generator supplies an additional 22 hp and 250 Nm. A 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission comes as standard.

Buyers can also opt for the Driving Assistance Package, which consists of Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Steering Assist, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Braking Assist with Cross-Traffic Function, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and Pre-Safe Plus.
The Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 is priced from RM 806,638.35, on-the-road without insurance. Those opting for the Designo Paint will need to fork out RM811,355.33. Both prices are with 0% GST and are subject to change upon the implementation of SST.
