Mercedes-Benz Teases A Classical Revival For Their Next S-Class Cabrio

Auto News

Mercedes-Benz has revealed a little teaser of what we can expect by way of a new S-Class Cabrio come September for the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The automaker says this new open-top model follows the grand tradition of the W111 and W112 series open top S-Class models of the 60s and early 70s.

They make no bones about it – Mercedes have set themselves with the task of making the most comfortable cabriolet in the world. We think they do know a thing or two about how to achieve such a feat over its competition.

"After 44 years we can again offer friends of our company an open variant of the S‑Class. The new S-Class Cabriolet symbolises our passion for individual and timelessly exclusive mobility, which we share with our customers", remarks Ola Källenius, Board Member of Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales.

Making the “most comfortable cabriolet” in the world does pose a somewhat more difficult challenge, what with the roof down and messing up the climate control and noise insulation. But Mercedes-Benz plans on tackling these with their new AIRCAP automatic wind protection system and the AIRSCARF neck-level heating system. We’ll see more of that come Frankfurt this year, we’re sure.
