Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Registers Record Sales In 2014

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) achieved a record year in 2014 by registering a 17% year-on-year increase in sales with 9,419 units. Consistent sales of over 900 units monthly and the introduction of new models contributed to this result.

Main models, namely the C-, E- and S-Class comprised the majority of vehicle sales with 4,575 units, an 11% increase compared to 2013. The newly introduced flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class posted impressive sales of 635 units, a 388% increase compared to the year before. Recently, MBM introduced the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid in Malaysia but it is not included in the 2014 sales figures.

Other newly launched vehicles were the GLA and CLA, contributing 2,322 units to sales growth, a near 100% increase from the previous year New Generation Compact Car (NGCC) family. Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles also registered a sale of 199 units and FUSO, above 2,000 units.

Another highlight for MBM is the continued support for the nation to become an energy-efficient vehicle (EEV) hub with a RM15 million investment in their Pekan production plant where the S 400 L Hybrid is assembled, receiving full duty exemptions.
