Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Launches GLC 200- 184 hp, RM 289k

The newest addition to the GLC lineup comes in the form of the GLC 200, which represents an entry level model for the mid-sized luxury SUV. The new model comes in at a very attractive RM 288,888, on the road and inclusive of GST, but without insurance. Just like the GLC 250 4MATIC, the GLC 200 is locally-assembled. 

This is about RM 37,000 cheaper than the mid-level GLC 250, and of course a lot less than the range-topping GLC 43. The introduction of the GLC 200 is in response to the popularity of the GLC 250 4MATIC, offering a good value-for-money package that comes with the crucial features you'd want in a luxury SUV of this size. 

Of note is the fact that the GLC 200 does not have the 4MATIC system- that is to say that it's purely driven by the rear-wheels- but we suspect most owners won't find this to be a problem. It does come with the same 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission as the GLC 250 model.  Powering the GLC 200 is a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine that puts out 184 hp at 5,500 rpm, and 300 Nm of torque from 1,200 rpm to 4,000 rpm. In comparison, this is 27 hp less and 50 Nm down from the GLC 250 4MATIC. 

The GLC 200 comes with 19-inch 5-spoke alloy rims as opposed to the 20-inch alloys on the GLC 250. It has the same high-performance LED headlamps and tail lamps, which help to maintain its striking looks. On the inside, there's an ARTICO leather-fabric combination interior, as well as contrasting topstitching for the dashboard and wood trim pieces. The exterior comes with the Off-road package for a more rugged feel. 

In addition to the launch of the GLC 200, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also unveiled the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe OrangeArt Edition. It's a essentially a GLC 43 Coupe with some nice orange accents on both the exterior and interior, as well as gloss black wheels and a few other aesthetic enhancements. It is available for order from RM 718,888 (on the road, with GST, without insurance).
