The models included in the recall include the E-Class (Model Series 212) and CLS-Class (Model Series 218).The reason for the recall is due to Daimler AG, Germany discovering an issue with the rubber seal of the engine compartment in the affected models mentioned. While no dots were officially connected by MBM in their media release to us, a few days ago, Mercedes-Benz announced a similar recall in the United States, where 147,000 vehicles were recalled for a similar issue pertaining to the rubber seal as well. The cars there were also reported to a rubber seal that could fall onto the exhaust system and cause a fire under the hood. The fix for the issue involved attaching additional clips to keep the seal firmly in place. In the US, E-Class and CLS-Class vehicles from 2013 to 2015 were affected and involved four-door sedans, wagons, hybrid and AMG variants, but excluded coupes and convertibles. The case is likely similar in Malaysia.Prior to the US scenario, a similar problem resulted in a recall being put out in Europe and China where 149,000 CLS-Class and E-Class cars were affected. As for owners affected in Malaysia, through its authorised dealers, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will begin informing all affected customers and perform the necessary rectification work in mid-March. The process is expected to take less than an hour. For more information on the recall, contact Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Customer Care Centre at 1800-88-1133 from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
