Home News Auto News Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Continues Premium Segment Leadership In 1H 2017 Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Continues Premium Segment Leadership In 1H 2017 Auto News Kon | July 07, 2017 11:39 am Mercedes-Benz Malaysia sold a total of 5,913 passenger vehicles in the first six months of 2017, securing its continued sales leadership among premium brands in the country. Despite a slight year-on-year drop from 6,017 vehicles sold over the corresponding period of 2016, sales rallied late on in the half to set a new monthly sales record of 1,210 units in June.“We have had a very successful first half in 2017, ending it with a new best-ever month in June further extending our lead in the premium segment. This was possible due to the comprehensive customer centric strategy, the broad premium product portfolio and superior services. With the good momentum of Q2 and our locally produced products, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is on track for yet another record year in 2017,” said Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars, Mr Mark Raine.The locally-assembled core models, namely the C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class, continue to contribute the bulk of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia sales. The C-Class tops the list with 2,075 units sold, followed by 1,358 units from the E-Class, and 230 units from the S-Class. Combined, these three models accounted for 3,663 units sold.Next biggest contributors are the family of SUVs, which sold a combined 1,233 units – more than double of last year’s total of 576. The rapid growth of this particular portfolio is primarily driven by the locally-assembled GLC-Class that went on sale last August.The MFA-based compact car family, which consists of the A-Class, B-Class, CLA, and GLA, sold a combined 739 units. More impressively, the Dream Cars range, which includes the full line-up of Mercedes-AMG high performance vehicles managed to sell a total of 268 vehicles.“Our positive growth is a clear indication of customers’ trust in the Mercedes-Benz brand.
