Home News Auto News Mercedes-AMG GT C Launched In Malaysia, Priced From RM1.461 Million Mercedes-AMG GT C Launched In Malaysia, Priced From RM1.461 Million Auto News Siew Weng | August 27, 2018 11:22 am The supercar category, although exclusively niche, seems to have many clusters of demanding customers that desire a better-packaged product. While some might find the Mercedes-AMG GT R too hardcore, too “loud”, another group of customers might find the Mercedes-AMG GT S at “only “ 510 hp insufficient and perhaps, not getting the new performance updates. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has just introduced the Mercedes-AMG GT C, a variant that slots in between the GT S and the GT R. Priced from RM1.461 million (subject to change upon implementation of SST), the flagship AMG two-door coupe has quite a few upgrades to justify its position above the GT S.First up is the front grille. The Mercedes-AMG GT C take styling cues from the GT R with the AMG Panamericana grille and a more pronounced corner cooling intakes. The entire airflow management works together with the new front fascia, as an Airpanel active air management system moves louvres under the vehicle for optimized cooling performance.Moving the rear, the Mercedes-AMG GT C is a full 57 millimetres wider than the GT, thanks to the wider body panels to accommodate the larger wheels, wider track, and a more sophisticated rear axle. At 2,007 mm wide, it is the same width as the Beast of the Green Hell, the Mercedes-AMG GT R. With the AMG GT C, the boffins at Affalterbach have massaged a higher output level for the 4.0-litre bi-turbo engine to 557 hp available from 5,750 rpm to 6,750 rpm, 47 hp more than the AMG GT S and just 28 hp shy of the Mercedes-AMG GT R.Maximum torque meanwhile is rated at 680 Nm (up 10 Nm versus GT S, only 20 Nm below GT R), available between 2,100 rpm and 5,500 rpm. The GT C races to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and will keep accelerating to a maximum velocity of 316km/h.All that power is sent through the rear-mounted AMG Speedshift 7-Speed dual-clutch transmission that spins the massive 305-section rear tyres on 12-inch wide AMG twin-spoke wheels. The gear ratios are also altered for agile acceleration through a higher first gear, and a lower seventh and final drive ratio. This is, again, shared with the Beast. As mentioned earlier, new performance items are fitted to the rear axle of the Mercedes-AMG GT C. First up is the electronically controlled locking differential. Working together with the Mercedes-AMG GT R-derived active rear-wheel steering, the Mercedes-AMG GT C offers superior agility and stability together with better control for the driver.Keen to know how different the Beast (GT R) and GT S drives?
