Home News Auto News Mazda 6 and CX-5 Gains Mobile Start Feature In The U.S. Mazda 6 and CX-5 Gains Mobile Start Feature In The U.S. Auto News Gerard | August 18, 2015 04:01 pm Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) has announced the launch of Mazda Mobile Start, its remote engine start system operated via smartphone for the 2016 Mazda 6 and 2016 Mazda CX-5 (automatic transmission) sold there.With Mazda Mobile Start, owners have the ability to control many of the car’s settings remotely through their smartphone to make things a little bit more convenient.As the name implies, owners will be able to start and stop their engine from virtually anywhere using the app (available on iOS and Android) installed on their smartphone. The app also features a timer to show how long the car has been running and how much longer it will run. Once the vehicle is started using the app, the settings last used on the climate control system and defroster will activate to help ensure the car will be heated or cooled when ready to go.The system also allows owners to check the door lock status of their cars, and can remotely lock or unlock the doors. For increased security, the panic alarm can also be activated.Next up is Carfinder which uses the smartphone camera and GPS technology to help owners find their car with the built in map features, particularly useful in large open air parking lots.The Mazda Mobile Start system costs $500 (RM1,892) and comes with a complimentary one-year subscription to the Mazda Mobile Start app with annual renewal priced at $65 (RM246).
