Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster Unveiled: Limited To 500 Units

Meet the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster, the first-ever series-produced, open-top Lamborghini to bear the Superveloce name, of which only 500 will ever be made, recently unveiled at ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ event during the Monterey Car week in California.

Performance-wise, the Aventador SV Roadster shares the same 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine with the SV coupe, with an output of 750hp and 690Nm of torque, 50hp more than the standard Aventador. The engine is paired to a seven-speed ISR transmission that sends the power to all four wheels via a Haldex Generation IV 4WD system.

Similarly, the SV Roadster is 50kg lighter than the standard Aventador, although it accomplishes the century sprint (0-100km/h) in 2.9 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds slower than the SV coupe. Top speed is unchanged at more than 350km/h.

Other shared hardware the car adopts from the SV coupe include adaptive Magneto Rheological Suspension, a pushrod damping system and Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS).

Lamborghini also point out that the SV Roadster features a power rear window that allows the engine sound to flood the cabin with “invigorating tones and harmonics during spirited driving”. In short, when you floor the throttle, your ears will thank you.

Like the standard Aventador Roadster, the SV version comes with a two-piece hardtop. Unfortunately, there isn’t any powered mechanism to put it up, so it’s a manual affair to attach it to the carbon fibre monocoque. Thankfully, the two roof parts weigh less than 6kg and can be stowed easily in the luggage compartment, making them easy to handle.
