Ladies And Gentlemen, Start Your Engines - Inter-district and Inter-state Travel Is Allowed From Today
Auto NewsMalaysia's most-watched politician, Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced on Friday last week that inter-district and inter-state travel is once again allowed throughout Malaysia beginning today.
Now, just because the travel ban has been lifted it doesn't mean that you should be planning for a road-trip or Sunday drive just yet, and even if you do please observe the SOPs in place. We are still in the midst of a pandemic.
What's confusing though is that the CMCO is still in effect in Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, most of Selangor, parts of Johor as well as Negri Sembilan.
So CMCO but can travel? Why still CMCO? Or is that to ensure that we still adhere to the other SOPs?
Bear in mind though that travel to locations under EMCO is prohibited.
The three-person per vehicle limit has also been lifted and will instead revert to the vehicle's seating capacity.
We will also no longer be greeted by our Abang and Kakak Polis as all roadblocks will be removed and travellers will no longer require a police permit, except to areas under the EMCO.
The police's attention will now be refocused to ensure we are all in compliance with the SOPs, so please do so.
The tourism sector is set to witness a gradual re-opening, the government will also be holding discussions today on whether employees can be allowed to return to the office in full force.
Now regardless of how you feel about the above, remember that we are ultimately still responsible for the well-being of ourselves and our families. So take the necessary precautions and be safe out there.
For the car club kakis I know it's been a fervent weekend of planning for many of you on which roads to hit next weekend, I know because I'm a member of a few groups. Being a driver myself I understand, but let's take it easy, be respectful on the road and remember we all share the roads. Let's look out for each other.
Too bad petrol price naik last week!
