Kia SPORTSPACE Concept Revealed, Headed Towards Geneva Motor Show
Auto NewsTeased just days ago, here’s Kia Motors Europe showing off their latest concept, the Kia SPORTSPACE Concept.
Initial guesses of what the teasers showed was that this concept was a design hint of what’s to come of the next-gen Kia Optima, and while true still, it looks like the Korean company has yet managed to spring a surprise on us by revealing it in a wagon form . Here’s looking at you, Hyundai i40. Game on.
Due to be unveiled in the metal at the coming 2015 Geneva Motor Show early March, the Kia SPORTSPACE features, as you can tell, a wagon/estate body style. The D-segment estate was designed at Kia Frankfurt’s design studio, under the stewardship of Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Europe.
Easily noticeable is how aggressive this car looks, in conjunction with the brand’s signature tiger nose grille, which moves away from the familiar mesh-grille design, to a sleeker, more modern gloss finish within. The rest of the car is absolutely menacing, to say the least.
Inside, it’s very futuristic stuff from Kia again, the a very sporty three-spoke steering wheel, and what looks like two large control display screens ala Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
"We set out to design a car that is a totally new breed of grand tourer - one for active people who need reasonable cargo space on the weekend, but don't want to compromise moving around in style, comfort and with an element of sportiness," explains Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Europe.
For now, that’s about all we can tell, at least until Kia spills more beans at the coming Geneva Motor Show. Stay tuned.
