Kia Introduces Enhanced Rio And Facelifted Optima GT In Malaysia

Naza Kia Malaysia, the official distributor of Kia vehicles in Malaysia, today unveiled the enhanced Kia Rio hatchback and the facelifted Kia Optima GT sedan.

Launched just over a year ago, the Rio hatchback received a much-needed improvement in the powertrain section. Out goes the dated 4-speed automatic transmission, replaced with a new 6-speed self-shifting unit. The new transmission continues to be paired with the 1.4-litre engine that develops 100 PS and 133 Nm of torque.

More driving assistance features have been included too, which are:

• Automatic cruise control with speed limiter
• Blind Spot Detection system (BDS)
• Auto-dimming rear view mirror

Kia says the enhanced Rio 1.4 6AT now runs on 16-inch wheels wrapped with tyres in size of 195/55 R16 for a smoother ride.

There are no changes to the price of the enhanced Kia Rio 1.4, which is priced from RM 78,888.

The new Optima GT meanwhile receives key changes to the exterior design as well as interior features. The front bumper and grille receive a more aggressive styling, made more prominent with LED fog lamps.   

Behind the new front fascia, lies the segment-best 2.0-litre engine with outputs of 245 PS and 350Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission driving only the front wheels.

The graphics of the tail lamps have also been updated to a more dynamic look.

Moving inside, the new Optima GT seat design features a two-tone combination of red and black, with the front seats embroidered with the GT signature logo.

Manoeuvring the Optima GT in narrow streets is now easier for the driver, thanks to the fitment of the surround view camera system that offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding.

The new Optima GT, featuring two new colours- Silky Silver and Platinum Graphite, plus three existing colours is priced from RM169,888.

Naza Kia Malaysia also introduced the facelifted Sorento SUV and Grand Carnival 8-seater MPV, with prices maintained for all variants.

All new Kia models come with a five-year/unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty.
