Jakarta 2017: Mercedes-Benz E350e PHEV Previewed For Indonesia
Auto NewsEncouraged by the measures taken by the Indonesian government to revert a CO2 based taxation system for vehicles in the near future - Mercedes-Benz Indonesia has previewed the E350e premium-sedan, in an effort to gauge local response towards models equipped with Plug-in Hybrid technology.
The E350e has been successfully launched in Thailand and is slated to be introduced to the Malaysian market in Q3 of 2017.
Echoing the sales success of PHEVs in Thailand and Malaysia, Mark Raine, Vice-President of Marketing and Sales Mercedes-Benz, South East Asia 2 added, “Up to 40% of Mercedes-Benz portfolio in Thailand and Malaysia consist of Plug-in Hybrids with much lower impact to the environment. Mercedes-Benz is preparing research to assemble the Plug-in Hybrid at our local factory.”
The (W213) E350e is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, also found on the E250, which is aided by a 65 kW, 440 Nm electric motor situated within the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
The engine produces 211hp and 350Nm on its own. In concert with the electric motor – total power output is 286hp and 550Nm. The E350e is capable of delivering up to 33km of electric range once fully charged.
