The Malaysian government has announced that the current movement control order (CMCO) for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Penang and Sarawak will be extended until May 17. The announcement also brought some bad news for Sabahans, as they will be joining the list of CMCO states starting from April 29 until May 17. Kelantan, which was previously under the CMCO, has had its status elevated to a movement control order (MCO) until May 17. States that are under a more relaxed recovery movement control (RMCO) order until May 17 include Negeri Sembilan (except Seremban which is under CMCO), Melaka, Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, Perak, Kedah (except Kuala Muda which is under CMCO), along with federal territories Putrajaya and Labuan. The hope that people will be allowed to travel during Raya still lives on as Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that he would announce the status of MCO for Aidilfitri soon according to a report made by MalaysiaKini. "Senarai SOP itu fake (palsu), tidak betul.... kononnya pada Aidilfitri nanti rentas daerah tidak dibenarkan, itu tidak benar sama sekali. Saya akan umumkan nanti SOP sambutan itu termasuklah tentang takbir raya, solat Aidilfitri, kunjung mengunjung dan ziarah tanah perkuburan," said Sabri. However, according to Bernama, the Royal Malaysian Police force will tighten its sekatan jalan raya (SJR) operations at Toll Plazas during Aidilfitri, to catch those who are traveling interstate. According to Bernama, this is a mandate set by Inspector-General Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador. Apart from that, interstate travel still remains forbidden without a permit, except for tourism between RMCO zones, requiring specifically requested permission through registered travel agencies under MOTAC.
