For China, specifically, a similarly-sized model, known as the ix25, has been on sale there since 2014.The ‘Creta’ name will be used throughout all markets except for China, but we’ll have to wait a little longer before learning which markets the compact SUV will actually be available in.Speaking at the showcase of Creta, Mr. BS Seo, Managing Director & CEO, HMIL said, “The CRETA is the most awaited and aspirational SUV of the year and would be a revolutionary product in the Hyundai portfolio. The global SUV CRETA will herald a new chapter in Hyundai Motor India’s success story and will set a new benchmark in the SUV segment of India with unmatched capabilities. With Hyundai’s strong vision for India, we will strengthen our commitment to the Indian market with the launch of CRETA.”The Creta uses the brand’s latest ‘Hive Structure,’ which is said to be a robust, yet lightweight body structure with dynamic handling and safety. The body is also said to offer “outstanding NVH” levels for a cosy ride.Exterior wise, Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language is featured, just as it is in the China-market ix25. Feature wise, Hyundai India will have some premium fitments to specify, beginning with a set of projector headlamps with LED positioning lamp, and 17-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels.Interior images are limited for now, but we understand that highlights include a five-inch AVN touchscreen display with a six-speaker system, smart key with push-start button, and six airbags. For safety, up to four airbags can be equipped, with ABS, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management and hill-assist control is available, along with a reverse camera system. Not too shabby an offering at all.Power wise, the India-market Creta will have a choice of one petrol (1.6-litre, 123PS), and two diesel engines (1.4, 1.6-litre, 128PS), which can be paired with either a six-speed manual or torque converter automatic transmission. That's about all the details and images we have for you at the moment, so hang tight while we source more for you.In the meantime...
