Home News Auto News Honda Malaysia Opens New, RM15mil-Pre-Delivery Inspection Yard In Melaka Honda Malaysia Opens New, RM15mil-Pre-Delivery Inspection Yard In Melaka Auto News Chris Aaron | August 06, 2015 06:22 pm Honda Malaysia has just opened its third and newest Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Yard at its Pegoh plant in Malacca.The new facility is an RM15.1 million investment that is built on a 50-acre land that directly faces its Pegoh plant, and can accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles at a time, whilst functioning as a centralised delivery centre for new vehicles.Speaking at the grand launch event, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia Mr. Yoichiro Ueno said, “In January last year, we opened the No. 2 Line which puts us on the path towards achieving our mid-term goal of doubling our production capacity to 100,000 units by 2016.“In July 2014, we made a strategic decision to construct the new PDI Yard 3 in order to speed up the vehicle delivery process in support of the increase in production and sales volume. The capacity for PDI Yard 3 is increased by 56% compared to the combined capacity of PDI Yards 1 and 2. The existing Yard 1 and Yard 2 will be used for receiving new vehicles, installing accessories as well as inspecting vehicle interior and exterior.”To help the movement of vehicles from the first PDI facility to the newest one, Honda Malaysia has invested another RM7.1 million towards the construction of an Overhead Link Bridge.PDI Yards 1 and 2 will be used for receiving new vehicles, and installing accessories as well as inspecting vehicle interiors and exteriors, while Yard 3 will focus on speeding up the vehicle delivery process in order to match the increase in production and sales volume.With the end game being to achieves its remarkably high sales targets for 2015 (85,000 units – of which 51% has already been achieved), Mr Ueno continued to say that, “I am pleased to announce that with the opening of PDI Yard 3, we are now able to support and speed up the delivery process of vehicles to Honda dealers nationwide.“Our dealer network is also growing in tandem with the increase in production.
