Honda Malaysia Issues Recall For The City And Jazz
Auto NewsHonda Malaysia has issued a recall for the fourth-generation Honda City (2014 year model) and the third-generation Honda Jazz (2015 year model) as a pre-emptive measure to rectify the hydraulic pressure control software involving the vehicles’ Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
12,232 units of the Honda City and 97 units of the Honda Jazz are part of the effort which involves rectifying the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through a CVT software update that contains a stress reduction software.
In its press release, Honda Malaysia explains that the rapid engaging and releasing of the accelerator pedal at high speed can result in a build up of high hydraulic pressure. This in turn generates a high level of stress, which acts upon the driveshaft pulley and may cause the shaft to be broken, resulting in the vehicle experiencing a loss of power while driving.
It added that as of current, no crashes or injuries have been associated with this issue and the recall serves as a precautionary vehicle update to curb the issue.
All affected Honda customers will be informed via notification letters that contain the necessary details of the product update. Those who receive these letters are advised to send their vehicles to the nearest authorised Honda dealer for inspection. Any expenses incurred from the product update will be borne by Honda Malaysia.
Honda owners can also check their vehicle’s product update status by calling Honda’s Toll Free number at 1800-88-2020.
