Home News Auto News Honda Civic (FC) Earns 5 Stars From ANCAP Honda Civic (FC) Earns 5 Stars From ANCAP Auto News Hans | April 27, 2017 09:44 am Following the 5-star rating awarded by ASEAN NCAP (applies to all Civic variants sold in Malaysia), the FC-generation Honda Civic has also garnered the maximum five stars rating from Australia and New Zealand’s ANCAP, scoring 34.68 points out of 37.ANCAP’s overall results for the Australian and New Zealand market Civic is collated from ASEAN NCAP’s test results for frontal and side impact barrier collision, as well as ANCAP’s own tests for side pole collision test.It is also important to note that the side impact test done by ASEAN NCAP is with a base model Thailand-market Civic that has no side or curtain airbags. Curiously, although all Civic models sold in Australia (and Malaysia) come with six airbags as standard, ANCAP’s scores for the Civic’s side impact performance is still base on the Thailand-market base model’s two-airbag only scores.Even without side airbags, the Civic performed well enough, garnering a maximum 4 points for head, abdomen and pelvis protection, with points deducted only for chest protection (2.93 points scored). Again, this information is purely academic as all Civic models sold in Malaysia come with six airbags and electronic stability control (also known as VSA in Honda’s terminology) as standard. The additional side pole impact test was done by ANCAP with a Thailand-made Australian market base model Civic. It scored the maximum 2 points. Related Articles Euro NCAP, ANCAP, ASEAN NCAP – What’s The Difference?
