Making its debut merely days ago at the Bangkok International Motor Show, the third-generation seven-seater Everest is expected to make its local debut here later this year and will be brought in from Thailand.Final specifications of the Malaysian-spec Everest aren’t finalised. The website merely states what is already known to be in the SUV including the i4WD Terrain Management System with four settings (Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand, and Rock). Adding to the off-road capabilities is hill descent control and an electronic locking rear differential. If required a towing capacity of 3 tonnes is on hand.Power plant options include the brand’s 3.2-litre five-cylinder Duratorq TDCi turbo-diesel mill that produces 200PS and 470Nm of torque. A smaller 2.2-litre four-cylinder Duratorq TDCi turbo-diesel providing 160PS and 385Nm of torque will also be available. A six-speed automatic or manual transmission can be paired to both engines but we reckon only the auto box will find its way here. The cabin will carry Ford’s SYNC 2 infotainment system that features MyFord Touch, allowing select devices to interact with the unit and can be accessed hands-free via voice recognition.
