Facelifted Mercedes-Benz CLA Launched - From RM236,888

The facelifted C117 Mercedes-Benz CLA range has broken cover, offering a host of new exterior highlights and value-added specifications.

Following the launch of the facelifted A-Class earlier in the year, the CLA four-door coupe is the second member of Mercedes’ New Generation Compact Car (NGCC) family to be revitalised and is offered in three different variants, priced as follows:

• Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 – RM236,888
• Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 Sport 4Matic – RM278,888
• Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic - RM408,888

So what’s new?

Exterior

All models are now equipped with the AMG Line exterior. The refreshed body styling comprises a new front and rear apron and restyled side-sill panel. The radiator grille now features chrome pins and the twin exhaust exits have been redesigned – now with flatter, wider dimensions. The new CLA is fitted with LED performance headlamps - direction indicators, DRLs and position lights are all in the form of multi-function fibre-optic cables. Rear light graphics are new and feature automatic intensity control to reduce unwanted glare.

The car also sits lower to the ground courtesy of the sports suspension that comes replete with the AMG Line kit. 

Interior

The interior benefits from new seat covers and trim parts and well as the addition of some chrome plated controls – on the fascia and electronic seat adjuster controls. The key highlight is the freestanding 8-inch media display with a new-style glass cover. The CLA 200 and 250 Sport are equipped with the Audio 20 CD system, while the CLA 45 is equipped with the Comand Online infotainment suite.

The CLA 200 draws power from a turbocharged inline-four producing 156hp at 5300rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1250- and 4000rpm. The century sprint is completed in 8.2seconds all the way to a 230km/h top speed. The 1991cc turbocharged four-cylinder in the CLA 250 ups the ante with 211bhp at 5500rpm and 350Nm from 1200- to 4000rpm. The CLA 250 sprints to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds, top speed is rated at 240km/h.

The CLA 200 and 250 Sport features new trim elements in black Dinamica microfibers, the sports seats are trimmed in an Artico man-made leather/ Dinamica microfiber combo. The multifunction steering wheel design is new, as is the shift-lever in perforated leather.

The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic

The redesigned front apron compliments a new A-Wing design with aggressive looking front splitters and canards finished titanium grey and high-gloss black respectively. The new design elements have also reduced the overall coefficient of drag (Cd) for the car. The twin-louvers of the radiator grille are now finished in chrome. At the rear, the rear diffuser inserts are new, which now includes four vertical fin elements.

Power is up by 21bhp to 381bhp, while torque has been increased by 25Nm to a whopping 475Nm between 2250rpm and 5000rpm. The power hikes result in a faster 0-100km/h time – now requiring just 4.2seconds. AMG Speedshift DCT 7-Speed transmission now receives shorter gear ratios.
