BMW Introduces New Range Topping X2 M35i With 306 hp
Auto NewsIt’s going to be almost a year since the BMW F39 X2 made its global debut, and the folks at Munich have announced the addition of a new range-topping variant to the lineup – the X2 M35i.
Powering the X2 M35i is BMW’s most powerful version of the 2-litre TwinPower Turbo engine, producing 306 hp and 450 Nm of torque which is paired to an M Performance-tuned 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and BMW’s intelligent xDrive AWD system.
Thanks to the powertrain package, the X2 M35i is able to sprint from zero to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds, with a combined fuel consumption of 8.1l/100km.
In case you’re wondering, what we have in Malaysia at the moment is the X2 sDrive20i powered by a transverse 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 192 hp and 280 Nm, paired to a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the front wheels.
The X2 M35i also gets M Sport adaptive suspension with two manually adjustable modes, an M Sport differential, revised steering tuning, bigger brake discs, and redesigned front air intakes.
On the exterior, unique features include Cerium Grey kidney grilles, side air intakes, wing mirrors, an M rear spoiler, M Sport twin exhaust system, and 19-inch M Sport light alloy wheels in 715M styling. There is also an optional 20-inch M Sport light alloy wheels in 721M styling.
Inside, the X2 M35i is fitted with an M Sport leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, as well as “M35i” lettering on the inside of the front doors. The list of options includes M Sport seats and matching M design seatbelts.
Also available as options are the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display, the latest generation of BMW ConnectedDrive, the new BMW Connected app, Apple CarPlay, traffic jam assistant, and parking assistant.
That being said, production of the BMW X2 M35i will begin in November this year.
