BMW i4 Electric Sedan With 530hp And 600km Range Will Arrive In 2021

As part of its efforts in shifting the brand towards electromobility, BMW has teased the i4 all-electric sedan which is due to make its global debut in 2021.

According to BMW, the i4 will be powered by the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which also includes the latest innovations in the field of battery cells, enabling the car to achieve a range of some 600 kilometres.

The electric motor developed for the BMW i4 delivers a maximum output of around 530 hp, reaching the level of a V8 engine in current BMW models fitted with a combustion engine.

With a weight of some 550 kilograms, the battery has an energy content of around 80 kWh.

All set to be produced from 2021 onwards and subsequently launched on the global automotive markets, the new model will be manufactured at the company's main plant in Munich.

In terms of performance, the i4, which will be the first Gran Coupé under the BMW i brand, is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4.0 seconds, while achieving a top speed of more than 200 km/h.

Combining the characteristic proportions of a 4-door coupé with the typical design features of a BMW i model, the i4’s exterior features dynamically stretched lines and a precise surface design go hand in hand with aerodynamically optimised exterior features as well as sustainability accentuations that are specific to BMW i.

The car also promises to offer high entry and exit, ensuring maximum ease and comfort for the passengers.

As for the interior, BMW says that the i4 will come with a spacious and variable cabin that ensures high suitability for both day-to-day trips and long-distance travel.
