Berjaya Group Denies Involvement With Suzuki, What Now?

Days after the New Straits Times reported that Berjaya Group could be reviving the Suzuki marque here in Malaysia, Berjaya Group has denied such rumours.

According to a statement issued by Berjaya Group, “BCorp wishes to clarify that this statement is not true at all. The board of directors of BCorp is also not aware of and has not deliberated on the arrangement.”

So we now put the rumour to rest but don’t give up hope on Suzuki’s return to Malaysia. According to reliable sources familiar with the matter, Suzuki is poised to make a return to Malaysia, just not with Berjaya Group.

Carlist.my is aware of the identity of the parties that Suzuki is in talks with but revealing it will jeopardise the on-going discussions, and the last thing that we want to do is to add more hurdles to Suzuki’s return. We definitely want to see Suzuki back in the local market and for Monster Tajima to grace the brand’s re-launch in Malaysia.

Suzuki exited the Malaysian after entering a partnership with Proton back in 2015. The Proton and Suzuki partnership was short-lived and the only product to come out was the Ertiga.

Prior to its partnership with Proton, Suzuki was represented in Malaysia by DRB Hicom through a joint venture company called Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd, with the best-selling model being the Swift.
