Bentley Takes Interior Craftsmanship To The Next Level With The All-New Flying Spur

After much anticipation, Bentley Motors has finally unveiled the all-new Flying Spur after numerous teasers and previews.

Recreated from the ground up on a wholly new platform, the new Flying Spur’s wheelbase has grown by 130mm, translating into a more spacious car.

On the exterior, highlights include cut-crystal effect LED matrix headlamps, standard 21-inch wheels, newly designed ‘Flying B’ emblem on the hood, full size, glass-to-glass panoramic sunroof, and a gloss black radiator matrix with bright chrome surround and vertical vanes that hark back to the iconic 1957 Bentley S1 Continental Flying Spur.

Inside, the new Flying Spur is all about craftsmanship. The newly designed seats are offered in 15 colours, with Bentley’s ‘Wing’ theme across the lower console and fascia.

The new seats feature a twin-flute design and increased functionality, including heating, ventilation, multi-mode massage, adjustable bolsters and also top tilt.

And then we have the sweeping horizontal veneer which flows across the dashboard and into the doors, emphasising the width of the cabin. Taking centre stage on the dashboard is an elegant, floating centre console which houses a customisable 12.3-inch HD touchscreen, which is complemented by the new Bentley ‘sculptural’ air cond vents.

The industry-first Bentley Rotating Display is also now available on the new Flying Spur. When the engine start button is pressed, the veneer section in the middle of the dashboard rotates to reveal a 12.3-inch touchscreen, displaying three, customisable digital tiles.

Another cool feature is the 3D diamond quilted leather door inserts used for the first time in a car, inspired by the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 design concept. New diamond knurling adorns the rotary switches and is also available on the air vents and clock.

Mood Lighting is newly available as an option, with the choice of seven colours and varying intensities. Other cool features in the new Flying Spur include an all-new Touch Screen Remote made from beautifully-crafted materials,  rear seat massage function, Mood Lighting, and standard 650W audio system with 10 speakers.

At the heart of the new Flying Spur is an enhanced version of Bentley’s 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine, mated to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission. This new TSI engine delivers 635 PS and 900 Nm, and enables the cat to sprint from zero to 100 in 3.7 seconds, and clock a top speed of 333 km/h.

Complementing the engine and gearbox are features like the Electronic All-Wheel Steering for the first time on a Bentley, Active All-Wheel Drive, and Bentley Dynamic Ride.

A host of new Driver Assistance Systems are fitted to the new Flying Spur as standard, including Traffic Assist, City Assist, as well as Blind Spot Warning.

On top of all of the above, customers who want to further personalise their Flying Spurs can always look at the options offered by Mulliner, who have also developed a world-first, solid wood, three-dimensional diamond quilted door insert, exclusively available in open-pore walnut.
