Audi Supplies 1-Million Euros In Emergency Aid To Refugees

The Ingolstadt-based automaker is quick to provide support to the stricken, with € 1 million (approximately RM4.88 million, at the time of writing) being made available for emergency aid. 

Audi will also use the funds to support initiatives in Ingolstadt itself, Neckarsulm, Brussels, and Gyor. Through the Audi Volunteers initiative (“Audi Ehrensache”), employees can also suggest regional projects they would like to implement with the help of various charitable organizations.

Corporate Responsibility committees at each site will then decide upon the most appropriate distribution of funds, furthering Audi’s commitment to support efforts to help refugees.

“We have been shocked by the great suffering of the refugees in Europe,” said Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG. “People at our doorsteps are in need – and we therefore want to offer help quickly and avoid red tape.”

“We are aware of how dramatically the situation of the refugees has developed locally,” said Thomas Sigi, Board Member for Human Resources, who added: “With the emergency aid we are trying to show our solidarity as well as practice social responsibility at our corporate sites.”

Audi is also plotting new ways to offer refugees long-term employment prospects within the company and intensive discussions for this are currently underway.

Recently, a group of volunteers from Audi had helped renovate homes for underage migrants and organized excursions for refugee children.
