Complementing the existing V12 model that was launched in Malaysia in September 2016, this new V8 variant is aimed at providing the opportunity to reveal more of DB11’s sporting character, whilst expanding its appeal with exceptional performance and improved efficiency. The 4.0-litre twin-tubocharged V8 engine under the front-hinged clamshell dual-vent bonnet is sourced from Mercedes-AMG, one of the key results from their partnership that was inked back in 2013.This new variant, which will be sold alongside the 5.2-litre V12 (600 bhp and 700 Nm) model, produces 503 bhp and 675 Nm of torque and is capable of propelling the DB11 V8 from 0-100km/h in just 4.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 300 km/h, equalling the straight-line performance of the bigger engine variant. The 4.0-litre Mercedes-AMG V8 engine, also sees duty in the Mercedes-AMG 63-series and GT family, with outputs ranging from 469 bhp in the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe right up to 630 bhp in the recently launched Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe.Aston Martin has visibly carried the treatment over to the DB11 V8, but, instead of the AMG engine builder's name, the plaque brandishes the name of the inspector who conducts the final inspection at Aston Martin's home in Gaydon. U.K.However, Aston Martin has tweaked certain components such as the air intake, exhaust and wet sump lubrication systems. Aston Martin were also given freedom by Mercedes-AMG to create new ECU software and reprogram the engine and throttle mapping to deliver the all-important Aston Martin feel and sound. Aston Martin’s engineers also designed new engine mounts, which together with the bespoke, ‘slimline’ wet sump system enables the V8 to be mounted lower within the engine bay for an optimised centre-of-gravity.The V8 engine is also lighter and more compact than the V12, which contributes to a saving of 115 kg and a kerb weight of 1,760 kg.Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rear mid-mounted 8-speed automatic transmission which is connected from the engine’s flywheel through an alloy torque tube with carbon fibre propeller shaft. The lower weight and better weight distribution have also enabled engineers to further enhance the handling characteristics of the DB11 – suspension bushing, suspension geometry, anti-roll bars, springs, dampers and ESP software are all newly-developed.The Aston Martin DB11 V8 is priced from RM 1,800,000 after duties and GST. There are also plenty of items for personalization which will definitely change the final price. Owners of various Aston Martin models sold by Wearnes Quest can now send their cars to the new Aston Martin service centre for thorough maintenance and servicing work. Located in Lingui Industrial Park, Sungai Buloh, the new service centre is equipped with the latest tools, technology and equipment.
