All-New Volvo S60 And V60 Scores 5 Stars In Euro NCAP

Volvo vehicles are synonymous with high levels of safety protection and it comes to no surprise that their all-new mid-sized sedan and wagon models (S60 and V60 models respectively), aced the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) scoring a maximum of 5 stars.

The third generation Volvo S60 scored highly in the adult occupant protection with a score of 96%, while child occupant protection registered a score of 84%.

All the advanced driving assistance systems in the Pilot Assist package were thoroughly put into the test by Euro NCAP. Features such as City Safety with Autobrake technology with cyclist and pedestrian detection performed among the very best but Euro NCAP found the performance of the emergency lane keeping only at a marginal level.

Nonetheless, the all-new Volvo S60 and V60 are two of the safest cars tested under the new regime that includes the aforementioned testing of advanced driving assistance systems.

Launched and manufactured in the USA, the all-new S60 competes with the Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, plus the Lexus IS and is offered with a selection of petrol-only engines, either with or without a plug-in hybrid system. Engine outputs range from 250 hp for the T5 and up to 400 hp for the hybrid T8 AWD.
