Toyota is slowly introducing the all-new Vios regionally, starting with Laos and Cambodia. If this model looks familiar, you’d be right as Toyota has slapped the Vios badge onto the Yaris Ativ.

For Laos, Toyota is offering the Vios with a 1.3-litre 1NR-FE four-cylinder petrol engine, which can be paired to a five-speed manual or a CVT that sends power to the front wheels. Speaking of power, the 1NR-FE manages 99 PS at 6,000 rpm and 123 Nm at 4,200 rpm.

Brakes are ventilated discs up front, while the rears get drum brakes. Laos-bound models are also fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 185/60R15 tires all round.

Below are equipment of the entry-level Vios 1.3E MT -

  • Halogen headlights
  • Bulb type rear combination lamp

For the Myanmar market, the all-new Vios is also offered in two trims, both sharing the same 1NR-FE engine and CVT-type automatic transmission.

The cheaper Vios 1.3J offers these equipment –

  • Halogen headlights
  • 15-inch steel wheels
  • Urethane steering wheel
  • Radio with USB connectivity and four speakers
  • Dual SRS airbags
  • ABS with EBD

Moving to the range-topping Vios 1.3G, the Myanmar market car is nearly identical to the one sold in Laos, but further adds rear disc brakes.

As reported earlier by The Bangkok Post, Toyota could be replacing the Vios with the Yaris Ativ in the near future, once the model has been fitted with a 1.5-litre engine.

Seeing that Toyota is gradually replacing the outgoing Vios with this all-new model, it is safe to assume that Malaysian units will be updated to this model very soon, seeing that the facelifted Vios won’t be finding its way here.
