The new model made its global debut at the 2018 Beijing Autoshow. But perhaps the biggest eye opener is perhaps its optional Digital Outer Mirrors, which swaps out the traditional side mirrors for a pair of cameras on each sides. The cameras are hooked up to a pair of 5.0-inch displays located on the base of each A-pillar, allowing for superior peripheral vision and better field of view. The optional Digital Outer Mirrors are also useful when it rains, as it can get rather difficult trying to look at details, which these cameras can overcome with ease.At the moment, the Digital Outer Mirrors are exclusive to Japan and are priced at a whopping JPY 216,000 (~RM 8,044). Not a cheap option, but certainly a useful feature. Apart from the Digital Outer Mirrors, the Lexus ES can also be had with a Full Display Monitor (FDM). The Full Display Monitor is a combination of a camera positioned at the rear of the vehicle and an LCD that replaces the traditional mirror, designed to improve rear visibility as the camera is not obstructed by head rests or dark tints. The Japanese market Lexus ES is powered solely by an Atkinson-cycle 2.5-litre petrol engine hooked up to an electric motor that delivers 218 hp. Under the JC08 test cycle, the Lexus ES is able to return 23.4 km/L.For those seeking for something sportier, Lexus is also offering the F Sport package with the new ES, which adds these equipment, including:Adaptive Variable SuspensionPerformance dampers19-inch alloy wheelsF Sport front grilleSports seatsF Sport steering wheelF Sport meter clusterHadori aluminium trimThree variants are available in Japan, with prices starting from JPY 5,800,000 (~RM 215,901) for the ES 300h, while the F Sport variant will set buyers back for JPY 6,290,000 (~RM 234,141).
