Home News Auto News All-New Nissan Leaf Confirmed For Asia Oceania, Malaysia Included All-New Nissan Leaf Confirmed For Asia Oceania, Malaysia Included Auto News Siew Weng | February 06, 2018 02:38 pm The second generation Nissan Leaf will soon go on sale in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.The announcement was made at Nissan Futures in Singapore, a gathering of industry leaders, media and government officials to discuss the future of mobility in the fast-growing Asia and Oceania region."The new Nissan Leaf is the most advanced, yet accessible 100% electric vehicle (EV) on the planet," said Nissan Regional Senior Vice President Yutaka Sanada. "This ingenuous car will make you feel more confident, more excited, more connected than any other mainstream EV. The launch in so many markets shows our commitment to playing a leading role in electrification in this dynamic region, and to delivering the future of mobility to the region now."Nissan is studying demand in Indonesia and the Philippines ahead of the new Nissan Leaf's next launch phase, Sanada added.Nissan has sold more than 300,000 Leaf models globally since the model first went on sale in 2010. The company introduced the all-new Nissan Leaf (ZE1) in September 2017, with a suite of advanced technologies that showcase Nissan ingenuity, including the e-Pedal system for one-pedal driving.The new Nissan Leaf also features increased power and range, and improved refinement, comfort and convenience. The car's new electric powertrain delivers 150 Ps of output and 320Nm of torque, improving acceleration and driver enjoyment.Under Japanese testing cycles, the new Leaf is capable of travelling up to 400 kilometres on a single charge. But as testing standards are different from region to region, we can instead look at other major testing standards which are more rigorous and reflective of actual traffic and driving conditions: USA EPA standard: up to 243 km Latest WLTP (combined): up to 285 km (rolling out in Europe, replacing NEDC) NEDC / ECE R101: up to 378 km Being a full electric vehicle with respectable range, the large 40kWh battery takes 7 hours to fully charge with its 6.6kW on-board charger.The outgoing Leaf was launched in Malaysia in 2013 after undergoing a year-long pilot programme that included loaning test cars to selected motorists for an extended period of time.
