All-New Nissan Almera Turbo Is Packed Full Of Safety
Auto NewsIt's already a mighty impressive product, inside and out, but the Nissan Almera Turbo comes with more tricks up its sleeves in the form of various safety systems.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility and Safety Shield 360 are two important words when it comes to the Nissan Almera Turbo. In a market where features determine popularity, the Almera Turbo excels on a variety of fronts - and safety is definitely not one of its weak points. On all three variants of the Almera Turbo are Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking.
The former operates between 5 km/h and 80 km/h and will flash the Advance Drive Assist Display and make noise if you're at risk of having a frontal collision. The latter will engage the brakes if it determines you still need intervention, with the aim of preventing or reducing the severity of an impact. These systems are the first steps forward when it comes to active safety, and the fact that it's available across the range is fantastic.
Higher up in the range, you also get Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert - two common systems that help you to stay aware of your surroundings. When changing lanes, the Blind Spot Warning will alert you if there's something you haven't noticed in your mirrors, while Rear Cross Traffic Alert is most useful when backing out of parking spaces or into a busy road.
A particularly nice touch is the Intelligent Around View Monitor with Intelligent Moving Object Detection. This system was first featured in luxury cars half a decade ago, and it slowly filtered down to more mass-market models, offering a birds-eye view of the car via a number of camera views stitched together. It allows for accurate and easy placement of a car in a parking spot or when maneuvering through tight spaces.
As for the rest of the safety features, you've got your usual acronyms like VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) with TC (Traction Control), HSA (Hill Start Assist), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with BA (Brake Assist), EBD (Electronic Braking Distribution), as well as 6 SRS airbags and two ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
