All-New Honda City RS I-MMD Hantam Camry And Bezza In Teaser Video – Launch Q4 2020.
Auto NewsIn a rather big break from tradition, Honda is going all out with the advertising of their upcoming seventh-generation 2020 Honda City RS i-MMD – this time taking a major swipe at cars like the Toyota Camry, Toyota Vios, Perodua Bezza, and Nissan Almera.
The ballsy teaser video, released just moments ago, coincides with the opening of their order books under their ‘Special Early Booking Programme’, which entitles the customer to an additional RM1,000 service voucher.
The 1-minute 44-second video features the 2020 Honda City RS in a number of driving situations to highlight the performance of its 1.5-litre Intelligent-Multi Mode Drive (I-MMD) hybrid powerplant (Honda’s latest-generation hybrid) which outputs a combined torque figure of 253 Nm – besting that of even the Camry 2.5L, with 235 Nm.
This is the first time, the I-MMD hybrid system will feature in the City, making it a world debut of sorts, when the car is officially introduced in Q4 of this year. The all-new 2020 Honda City RS also debuts a first-in-segment Electric Parking Brake (EPB) feature.
All throughout the video, we see the City RS beating its ‘rivals’ in situations such as steep climbs, overtaking, and low-speed acceleration. Whether or not that will be the case when we get our hands on it remains to be seen.
Besides the range-topping City RS, the 2020 Honda City will also be offered in three other variants, which are powered by an updated 1.5L i-VTEC powertrain. The All-New City is now open for booking at Honda’s 101 authorised dealerships nationwide.
