All-New BMW X2 Launched in Malaysia, Priced From RM320,800

BMW Malaysia has now expanded its line-up of SUVs with the introduction of its first ever BMW X2. Billed as a coupe-ish derivative of its popular locally-assembled X1 (from RM 230,800 for the X1 sDrive 20i), the X2 sits above the X1 but since it's fully-imported from Germany, the X2 is priced higher than even a locally-assembled all-wheel drive X3 xDrive20i (from RM 296,800).

For Malaysia, only one variant is offered - the X2 sDrive20i - powered by a transverse 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 192 hp and 280 Nm, paired to a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

Visually, the X2 gets LED headlights and LED front fog lights as standard, as are the BMW Individual High-Gloss Shadow line, M Aerodynamics package, and M Sport Suspension. The latter lowers the vehicle by 10 mm.

Inside, a large 8.8-inch touch screen BMW Navigation Plus infotainment system takes centre stage with Bluetooth and USB connectivity,  while audio is played through its 6 speaker set up. Heads-up display, reverse camera, and Park Distance Control are also fitted as standard.

In terms of practicality, the X2 features the keyless Comfort Access System with a contactless opening power tailgate, which opens up to reveal a boot capacity of 470 litres. Cargo volume can be further expanded to 1,355 litres thanks to the 40-20-40 split folding rear seats.

Similar to other BMW models, the new X2 comes with BMW Connected, which includes Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, Concierge Services, BMW Online and BMW Remote Services.

The all-new BMW X2 is available in a range of bright body colours, including Galvanic Gold Metallic, Misano Blue Metallic, and Sunset Orange Metallic, with a standard black interior with grey stitching. Those who opt for the Black Sapphire body colour can choose to have their interior finished in a shade of Magma Red with grey contrast stitching.

The retail price of the all-new BMW X2, on the road exclusive of insurance is from RM320,800.
