Home News Auto News All-New 2019 G07 BMW X7 Unveiled, Available With M Performance And 760 Nm Of Torque All-New 2019 G07 BMW X7 Unveiled, Available With M Performance And 760 Nm Of Torque Auto News Siew Weng | October 17, 2018 04:46 pm The production version of BMW’s flagship model in its SUV range has finally been made public. The all-new G07 BMW X7 maintains the concept car’s most distinctive feature- the massive kidney grille.Aimed to compete with other flagship SUVs in the premium segment such as Lexus LX, Infiniti QX80, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, the all-new G07 BMW X7 will also be in the shopping list of customers in the USA who own the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator.Similar to the recently launched G05 BMW X5, the slim head lamps in the BMW X7 feature Laserlight technology with distinctive X-shaped elements in blue. This technology extends the beam range by 100%, from 300 metres (LED system) to 600 metres. Two design packages are available: Design Pure Excellence and M Sport. The former features more bright chrome and silver trim finishes, while the latter adopts more gloss black trim pieces for a sportier look.Other notable exterior features include a split tailgate that is powered and wheel sizes ranging from 20 inches to 22 inches.Much attention has been paid to the comfort levels for passengers seated in the second and third rows. Two individual seats with power adjustments and individual armrests can be fitted as an option. BMW has also fitted a five-zone air conditioning system, allowing occupants in the third row to have control of their own climate. The company also mentioned that the full-sized seats in the third row offer great comfort levels over long distances. As seen in the BMW 7 Series, the panorama glass roof with ‘Sky Lounge’ lighting uplifts the cabin ambience. LED light is spread evenly across the glass surface to illuminate over 15,000 graphic patterns. All three sections of the glass roof are fitted with its own electric sun blind and controls are separated at each seating row. Other highlights in the interior include a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system with 20 speakers, dual-touchscreen rear seat entertainment system, and front seats with massaging function. The driver meanwhile will navigate the layers of vehicle menus through BMW Live Cockpit with BMW Operation System 7.0. A big motor is only expected in this massive SUV. Behind the largest kidney grille in BMW history lies a familiar 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine. The engine delivers 462 hp and 650 Nm of torque, vital outputs to score a century dash time of just 5.4 seconds. BMW, however, will not offer this xDrive50i variant in Europe.BMW has also unveiled a variant with M Performance tuning, named the X7 M50d. The 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine features multi-stage turbocharging with four turbochargers, delivering a colossal 760 Nm of torque and 400 hp. Benchmark acceleration time is similar to the petrol V8 engine, setting 5.4 seconds on the stopwatch. The BMW X7 M50d also comes standard with an M Sport differential, a sportier chassis set-up, and 21-inch M-design alloy wheels. In the smallest petrol engine, a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six will have the X7 xDrive40i label, generating up to 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque. That is sufficient to haul the 2.4 tonne SUV from rest to 100 km/h in an impressive time of 6.1 seconds. There is no news on the plug-in hybrid system which was shown earlier this year on the X7 iPerformance concept car.Precise engine power is sent to all four wheels through BMW’s famed xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system. The Off-Road package also calibrates throttle, brake, stability control and torque split together with the height of the air suspension to traverse all types of terrain conditions with ease. Safety equipment is also all-encompassing in the all-new G07 X7, which includes the semi-autonomous Driving Assistant Professional and Emergency Stop Assistant. One useful semi-automated feature that stands out in this massive SUV is the Reversing Assistant. This is extremely useful when the driver is not able to have a clear view of the rear of the X7, or when clearing through narrow pathways in reverse direction. The feature stores steering movements over the last 50 metres of forward low-speed driving. When it is time to move in reverse, the system automatically controls the steering movement in the X7 in the path that the vehicle had moved forward earlier, with the driver just controlling the vehicle speed. The all-new G07 BMW X7 will be built alongside other BMW X models at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, USA. Global sales are slated to start in March 2019. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
