All-New 2015 Peugeot 308 THP Opens For Bookings

Having made its global debut late 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Nasim Sdn Bhd is finally bringing its all-new Peugeot 308 C-segment hatchback to Malaysia. No dates or prices have been finalised as yet, but the order books for the vehicle have been opened.

Recapping what’s what, the 2014 European Car Of The Year made its debut riding on an all-new platform: the Peugeot-Citroen Group’s latest Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2).

As competitors like the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 up their games, Peugeot has followed suit by bolstering its compact hatch with an array of new tech, a larger and more spacious body, and the allure of its new i-Cockpit cabin.

Very little has been officially unveiled by Peugeot, but as expected, some dealerships have been leaking official brochures of the vehicle. This dealer even managed to snap pictures of the car rather thoroughly at what looks like a dealer’s event.

From what we can tell, the 308 THP will feature a 1.6-litre twin-scroll Turbo High Pressure (THP) engine, which is likely paired with the brand’s new EAT6 six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Two tunes of the engine is available globally, a 165PS version, and another with 150PS. However, Malaysians look set to receive just the THP150 version, which also puts out 240Nm of torque.

Inside, the new and updated Peugeot Malaysia website also reveals the brand’s excitement for it i-Cockpit feature, which effectively consists of a steering wheel with a reduced diameter, and a raised instrument panel which is said to align itself better with a driver’s line of sight.

Bundled into the cabin’s cool features is a 9.7-inch touchscreen display, and what looks like a very minimalistic interior design. A panoramic sunroof is specified for our market, along with leather seats, electric auto hand brake, engine push-start button and more.

Nasim Sdn Bhd themselves have been rather hush on the specifics apart from its teasers on social media, but have told us that the car is coming soon to showrooms nationwide. The previous 308 was available in three variants, VTi, Turbo and the special edition Griffe version, which retailed from RM100k to RM129k respectively. Could this new 308 be limited to just the 308 THP150?

Although unofficial for the moment, trusted and verified dealers on Carlist.my have been listing the all-new 308 from RM130k to RM135k. Check them out HERE.
