Alfa Romeo Stelvio Teased Again, Hopefully for the Last Time

Auto News

Looks like the long wait for Alfa Romeo’s first SUV – the Stelvio is almost over, as the brand has finally released a short teaser video on YouTube last weekend hinting at its arrival.

Revealed at the Los Angeles Motor Show in January, the Stelvio is the second model to be revealed in Alfa Romeo’s big product charge, after the Giulia.

Set to go against the Porsche Macan, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and the Jaguar F-Pace, the Stelvio features the brand’s latest design language, boasting the same new face and taillight design as the Giulia.

Under the hood, the SUV is expected to come with more than one engine choice, with one of them being a 503bhp 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that enables the Stelvio to sprint from naught to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds.

And then there is the 2.0 litre, direct-injection, turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 280hp and 400Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox by ZF.

Measuring at 4,680mm long, 2,160mm wide and 1,650mm tall on the outside, the Stelvio’s cabin is also quite similar to the Giulia, featuring 4 driving modes, Alcantara and Nappa combination seats, a huge touch-screen, as well as dual-rotary control dials among others.

With the Giulia and Stelvio down and six more models expected to be revealed by 2020, Alfa Romeo is going to be a very busy brand over the next couple of years, after the long hiatus.
