416hp Tesla Model S P85+ Spotted On Malaysian Roads
Auto NewsA photo has emerged out of the cauldrons of social media recently showing a dark blue Tesla Model S electric vehicle driving around the Sepang area. It’s registered with Malaysian plates and P85+ model which, while not the supercar-rivalling P85D, is still pretty powerful with 416hp and 600Nm of torque on tap.
With the image above courtesy of Naviin Elango, seeing this Model S on our roads gets us all kinds of excited, but before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s discuss this in composure. First of all, there was a Tesla Model S seen being brought over through a grey importer later last year. It was also dark blue, I might add, so this W-plated car might be the same vehicle.
No other official information has come through about this particular Model S or its presence in Malaysia. Although we have heard some murmurs about Tesla expanding their global network to include an official sales channel in Malaysia, those haven’t gained much traction. Even so, fingers crossed.
The Tesla Model S P85+ has a single electric motor driving the rear wheels which produces 310kW (416hp) and 600Nm of torque, with energy stored in an 85kWh lithium-ion battery pack that gives it an official range of over 500km. While its far from a pared-down lightweight at over two tonnes, the monstrous torque from the Model S P85+'s electric motor means it needs just 4.4 seconds to go from 0-100km/h.
