2018 All-New Mercedes-Benz A-Class Spied!

Auto News

Mercedes-Benz dropped its mini MPV design for the A-Class when the current generation was launched in 2012, adopting a sportier hatchback design aimed to appeal to the younger crowd.

Automotive tipster Ferd posted this lone shot of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class, tipped to arrive some time in 2018.

We understood that the upcoming A-Class's design will be evolutionary instead of revolutionary. Expect the outgoing model's familiar outlook to carry over, albeit modified to suit the company's current design language.

Underneath, Mercedes-Benz is said to utilize its heavily-revised MFA platform for the new A-Class, now called MFA2. The new platform, like the MFA platform before it, is likely going to be underpinning Mercedes-Benz’s range of compact models, including the A-Class, B-Class, CLA-Class and GLA-Class.

Elsewhere, powertrain options could mirror the outgoing range of turbocharged inline-fours coupled with dual-clutch automatics.

As before, the company is probably going to introduce a hotter AMG version of the A-Class (and other compact models), likely with up to 400 horsepower.
