Home News Auto News 2017 Volkswagen Passat Plus – Upgrades For Both 1.8 TSI Variants 2017 Volkswagen Passat Plus – Upgrades For Both 1.8 TSI Variants Auto News Kon | July 21, 2017 04:14 pm Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has introduced the Passat Plus, two new additions offering upgraded features over both the existing 1.8 TSI variants of the company’s flagship D-segment sedan.Specified in conjunction with the base Trendline model, the Passat Plus replaces the base model’s fabric upholstery with leather and upsizes its wheels from 16 to 17 inches with 215/55 tyres.The Comfortline Plus model, meanwhile, upgrades its rims from 17 to 18 inches. Both the Trendline Plus and Comfortline Plus models get EcoTint window films. Overall, VPCM claims that the added features of the new Plus variants are worth RM8,000 and RM12,000 in value for the Trendline and Comfortline models respectively.Despite the added equipment, however, both variants of the Passat Plus are priced lower than the existing non-Plus variants, going for RM144,990 excluding on-road costs for the Trendline Plus model and RM169,980 in Comfortline Plus spec. To recap, the existing Passat 1.8 TSI was priced at RM159,990 and RM179,990 for Trendline and Comfortline respectively.The 1.8-litre variants of the Passat are powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing outputs of 180PS and 250Nm channelled to the front wheels by a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.To recap, equipment levels of the Passat 1.8 TSI are as follows:1.8 TSI TrendlineHalogen reflector headlamps, daytime running lightsManual seat adjustmentThree-zone auto climate controlEngine push-start button (without keyless entry)5-inch touchscreen infotainmentFront and rear parking sensorsSteering wheel: leather-wrapped with infotainment control buttons1.8 TSI ComfortlineLED headlights, daytime running lights12-way electric seat adjustment, memory function for driverKeyless entry, handsfree boot opening6.5-inch touchscreen infotainmentReverse cameraPaddle shiftersPark Assist 3.0The range-topping Passat 2.0 TSI, powered by a 220PS / 350Nm engine with 6-speed DSG, continues to be offered with unchanged specifications.For a limited time until 30 Sept 2017, both variants of the Passat Plus are offered with special hire purchase interest rates as low as 0.88% for financing tenures between five and nine years.
