2017 Subaru Forester 2.0i-S Previewed – Introductory Price RM133,818

At today’s opening of the Carlist.my MAA DRIVE Test and Buy event in Setia City Convention Centre Motor Image, the distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia has announced that the Forester SUV’s range will soon be expanded with the addition of a new 2.0i-S variant.

Expected to be launched sometime next week, the Forester 2.0i-S is positioned between the naturally-aspirated 2.0i-P and the turbocharged 2.0 XT, and features several aesthetic enhancements both inside and outside.

Mechanically unchanged from the 2.0i-P, the 2.0i-S’ 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine produces the same 148 hp and 198 Nm, with drive transferred to all four wheels via a CVT-type automatic transmission.

On the outside, the 2.0i-S variant features gun-metal finished lower front spoiler in front, black mesh radiator grille, and gun-metal finished wing mirrors.

Behind, there is of course a different 2.0i-S badge, as well as a lower rear spoiler on the bumper.

Inside, the 2.0i-P’s faux aluminum inlays have been replaced with faux carbon fibre trims, while the 2.0i-P’s black leather upholstery is now replaced with red-stitched half leather half suede ones.

Prices have yet to be announced but Motor Image can confirm that within this pre-launch period, the 2.0i-S is offered at RM133,818 excluding insurance. Beyond this period, a new selling price will be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, the 2.0i-P, which normally sells for RM161,908 excluding insurance, is currently on offer at RM127,458 excluding insurance.
