2017 Proton Iriz Now Available From RM43,800

Proton has officially introduced the refined 2017 Proton Iriz. The new model is now available in all Proton showrooms nationwide. 

Visual changes include two new exterior colours, Ruby Red and Carnelian Brown. These two new colours will join Graphite Grey, Atlantic Blue and Cotton White as the colour choice for the new Iriz. The Proton Iriz 1.6 Premium receives a two-tone colour scheme, with the front grille, roof, spoiler and side mirrors painted in black. Both the Iriz 1.3 Standard and Executive remain visually identical to the predecessor.

Moving inside, the range-topping Proton Iriz 1.6 Premium receives red stitching to the leather wrapped steering wheel, seats and carpet. All Proton Iriz variants also receive new seat pattern with blue and red highlights, with the Premium variant featuring a leather and fabric. The dark chrome trim in the Iriz 1.6 Premium now has a glossy finish, which can be found around the gear lever, aircon vents and infotainment system surround. The meter cluster and gear shifter for CVT models are lifted from the Persona. Eco-Drive Assist Indicator is also available on the Iriz, across all variants. Keyless entry and push button engine start is now available on the Iriz 1.3 Executive, which was earlier only fitted to 1.6 variants of the Iriz.

Apart from visual updates, Proton has also improved the Iriz's refinement. As implemented in the Persona, the Iriz's engine now sits on three mounting points as opposed to four previously. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, this move is to the benefit of refinement, as it ensures that the engine sits firmly at all times as the mounts wear out. Think of those rocking tables at your neighbourhood mamak and you'll see what the point.

Safety features include ABS, Hill-Hold Assist, ISOFIX child seat anchor points, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System plus six airbags for the Iriz 1.6 Premium. Lesser models receive two airbags as standard.
