2017 Mazda 2 Facelift In Malaysia, Now With GVC
Auto NewsThe updated Mazda 2 facelift was introduced in Thailand back in February, bringing along the company's G-Vectoring Control (GVC) plus some interior and exterior enhancements.
We spotted this Deep Crimson Mica Mazda 2 recently and noticed some subtle differences from the model beside it.
Visually, the updated Mazda 2 with GVC gets chrome surround on the front fog light covers and updated side mirrors. The rear end of the new Mazda 2 is largely identical to the earlier model, with the addition of a GVC emblem.
Changes inside are a bit more substantial than the exterior. Similar to the Thai-spec car, our Malaysian units feature identical mocha brown highlights on the air vent trim. The colour of the leather trim on the door cards and the updated seats are also dark brown in colour. On top of that, Mazda has gotten rid of the faux carbon fibre trim that was on the pre-facelifted model, replacing it with a classier-looking piano black trim. Elsewhere, the new Mazda 2 GVC also features an revised steering wheel with audio controls.
Mechanically, the new Mazda 2 continues with its 1.5-litre SkyActiv-G four-cylinder petrol engine with 114 hp and 148 Nm paired to a six-speed automatic that sends power to the front wheels.
Safety equipment mirrors the existing Mazda 2 as well, including dual airbags, ABS, EBD, DSC, TCS and ISOFIX anchor points.
Variant wise, expect Bermaz to offer the Mazda 2 GVC in sedan and hatchback form, both of which can be had with or without the signature LED headlights. In terms of pricing, we understand that the new Mazda 2 GVC is unlikely to see a change in price, with prices starting from RM87,586 for the non LED headlight Mazda 2 hatchback.
