2017 Ford Ranger XL Standard - "Contractor Spec" Makes Malaysian Debut

Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) has announced the introduction of a new variant of the Ford Ranger called the Ranger XL Standard pickup truck.

Priced at RM83,588 OTR without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia and RM89,388 in East Malaysia, the Ranger XL Standard is basically an entry-level ‘workhorse’ version of the T6 Ranger.

This is why the variant comes with unpainted black front grille and bumpers, 16-inch steel wheels, and no sports bars.

Power is supplied by Ford’s four-cylinder 2.2L TDCi diesel engine putting out 125PS and 320Nm of torque, and paired to the engine is a 6-speed manual transmission with 4x4 shift on the fly (ESOF).

Standard features on the Ranger XL Standard includes:  

• Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
• Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
• Reverse Sensors
• Side Steps
• Rear Cargo Load Rest
• Inner and Outer Truck Bed Tie Downs

These are on top of the dual front airbags, head restraints, and the 3-point safety belts across all five seats. 

Available in two colours - Cool White and Meteor Grey – the Ranger XL Standard is able to wade through water up to 800 mm deep, and also comes with 230 mm of ground clearance.
